Tag Management

Create and manage tags to organize questions.

Tags Overview

Tags help: - Categorize questions by topic - Filter questions in search - Group related questions - Track trending topics

Create Tag

  1. Admin → Tags
  2. Click "Create Tag"
  3. Enter:
  4. Name: Tag name (e.g., "Benefits")
  5. Color: Visual identifier (optional)
  6. Click "Create"

Tag naming: - Keep short (1-2 words) - Use clear, common terms - Avoid abbreviations - Use singular form (e.g., "Benefit" not "Benefits")

Edit Tag

  1. Admin → Tags
  2. Click tag name
  3. Update name or color
  4. Save

Note: Renaming updates all tagged questions.

Delete Tag

  1. Admin → Tags
  2. Click tag
  3. Click "Delete"
  4. Confirm

Effect: Removes tag from all questions (questions remain).

Tag Usage

Apply Tags

Moderators and admins can tag questions:

  1. View question
  2. Click "Tag" button
  3. Select existing tags or create new
  4. Save

Bulk Tagging

  1. Moderation Queue
  2. Select multiple questions
  3. Click "Tag"
  4. Select tags
  5. Apply

Auto-Tagging

Presentation mode includes auto-tagging workflow:

  1. View question in presentation mode
  2. Press T to tag
  3. Select tags
  4. Question auto-tagged and moved to next

Tag Analytics

View tag statistics:

  1. Admin → Tags

Shows per tag: - Question count - Last used date - Most active team

Tag Strategy

Product/Feature: - Product - Feature Request - Bug Report

Topics: - Benefits - Career - Culture - Policy - Technology - Process

Event-Specific: - All Hands Q4 2025 - Town Hall January

Urgency: - Urgent - Follow-up Required

Tag Taxonomy

Keep it simple: - 10-20 tags max - Clear, non-overlapping categories - Review and consolidate quarterly

Tag Consistency

Enforce Standards

  1. Naming convention: Document approved tags
  2. Training: Educate moderators on tag usage
  3. Cleanup: Merge duplicate/similar tags regularly

Merge Tags

To consolidate tags: 1. Create preferred tag (if doesn't exist) 2. Bulk retag questions from old tag to new tag 3. Delete old tag

Example: Merge "Compensation" and "Pay" → "Compensation"

Tag Permissions

Can create tags: - Moderators (when tagging questions) - Admins - Owners

Can manage tags (edit/delete): - Admins - Owners

Common Tasks

Clean Up Unused Tags

  1. Admin → Tags
  2. Sort by "Question Count"
  3. Delete tags with 0 questions

Rename Tag

  1. Admin → Tags → [Tag Name]
  2. Edit name
  3. Save

All questions update automatically.

Seasonal Tag Cleanup

After events: 1. Review event-specific tags 2. Keep if useful for reference 3. Delete if no longer relevant

Best Practices

  1. Consistency: Use same tags across teams
  2. Clarity: Avoid ambiguous tag names
  3. Maintenance: Review tags quarterly
  4. Documentation: Maintain list of approved tags
  5. Training: Educate moderators on tagging

Troubleshooting

Cannot Delete Tag

Reasons: - Tag is in use (shows question count) - Solution: Retag questions, then delete

Tag Not Appearing

Check: - Tag was created successfully - Refresh page - Check spelling

Duplicate Tags

Fix: 1. Decide which tag to keep 2. Retag all questions 3. Delete duplicate
